Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains how World Radio Stations (the Android app and the website, together the “service”) handles information. We respect your privacy and have designed the service to collect as little data as possible.
1. Who controls the data
The service is developed and maintained by an independent developer (“we”). We have no servers that store user data. For questions about this policy, write to info@worldradiostations.org.
2. Data the service collects
We do not store personal data on our servers. We don’t maintain user accounts and don’t require registration.
In the Android app
- Favorite stations and listen history are stored only locally on your device and are never sent to us.
- You can delete this information at any time by clearing the app’s data in your device settings or by uninstalling it.
On this site
- Your chosen view, last played station, favorites, history and country are saved in your browser’s localStorage. They never leave your device and cannot be read by us or other sites.
-
A consent cookie (
wrs-consent-v1) is saved if you make a choice in the cookie banner, so we don’t ask you again. It contains no personal data. - You can clear all of this data from your browser settings (“Clear site data” for this site’s domain).
3. Use of the internet
The service connects to the internet for the following purposes:
- Streaming radio stations — audio streams come directly from the servers of the respective stations. The catalog is retrieved from the public API of radio-browser.info. When you listen to a station, your IP address may be visible to its operator — as with any web streaming.
- Analytics — with your consent (given in the cookie banner), the site uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use it (pages viewed, approximate location, device type). Analytics storage stays disabled until you choose “Accept”; choosing “Necessary only” keeps it off.
- Ads — this site shows ads through Adsterra, and the app shows ads through Google AdMob (see the next section).
- Fonts — the site loads Google Fonts from
fonts.googleapis.com. Google may see your IP address when they load.
4. Ads (Adsterra and Google AdMob)
Ads keep World Radio Stations free. This site shows banner and native ads from
Adsterra (served from bauval.org); the app uses
Google AdMob. Ads are clearly labelled “Advertisement” and load only when
you scroll near them. If you choose “Necessary only” in the cookie banner, the site shows
no ads at all.
These ad networks and their partners may set cookies or use similar technologies and collect information such as:
- The advertising identifier of the device or browser
- IP address, device type, operating system, browser type
- Coarse geolocation (country/city level)
- Interaction with the ads (impressions, clicks)
- Pages visited on the site
The purpose is to show more relevant ads, measure their performance and prevent fraud. Adsterra processes this data under its Privacy Policy. In the app, Google processes it according to:
- How Google uses information from sites and apps that use its services
- Policy for partner sites and apps
- Google Privacy Policy
Managing personalized ads:
- On the site: choose “Necessary only” in the cookie banner to turn ads off. To change an earlier choice, clear this site’s data in your browser and pick again.
- On Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of personalized ads.
- In the browser: block third-party cookies in your browser settings.
5. Cookies on the site
The site uses two kinds of cookies and similar technologies:
- Technically necessary —
localStorageentries for your chosen view, favorites, history, country and cookie choice. Without them the app cannot remember your preferences. - Advertising (third party) — Adsterra and its partners may set cookies to show, measure and cap the frequency of ads. Choosing “Necessary only” in the cookie banner stops the site from loading ads.
6. Your rights under the GDPR
If you are a resident of the European Union, you have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Rectification or erasure (the “right to be forgotten”)
- Restrict or object to processing
- Data portability
- Withdraw consent to processing at any time
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (your local data protection authority)
Since we don’t store personal data on our servers, most rights are exercised directly from your device — clearing the app’s data on Android, or clearing the site data in your browser. For questions about data processed by Adsterra or Google AdMob, please contact them through the links above.
7. Children
The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under that age. If you believe we have received such data, please contact us so we can delete it.
8. Security
The site is served over HTTPS. Since we don’t hold personal data on a server, the main privacy risks relate to your device and to third parties (Radio Browser, Google, Adsterra) — we recommend reading their policies as well.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be reflected with a new date at the top of the page. We recommend checking back periodically.
10. Contact
