World Radio Stations is a directory and web player for radio stations around the world. This page explains where the streams come from, what we do and don’t do with them, and how station owners and rights holders can contact us.
1. Where the streams come from
Station listings come from Radio Browser, an open community index of internet radio streams. Internet simulcasting is how the radio industry reaches listeners: the streams in the index are the public stream URLs that stations themselves operate and promote. When you press play, the audio comes directly from the station’s own servers — we do not host, record, re-encode, proxy or rebroadcast any audio.
2. What we filter out
- Broken and abandoned streams (checked continuously via the index’s health data).
- Streams not served over a secure (HTTPS) connection.
- Listings reported to us as unauthorized rebroadcasts of another station’s stream.
3. Trademarks and station materials
Station names and logos belong to their respective owners and are used solely to identify the stations, the way a radio dial or programme guide does. Editorial texts — station profiles and blog articles — are our own work.
4. For station owners and rights holders
If you operate a station and want your stream removed, corrected or added — or you believe a listing infringes your rights — email contact@worldradiostations.org with:
- the station and the page URL concerned;
- the organisation you represent and your role;
- what you’d like changed (removal, corrected stream URL, updated details).
We act on every such notice promptly — typically within 72 hours. Because listings originate in the open Radio Browser index, we can also help you correct the source entry so the change sticks everywhere.
5. Mistakes happen
Stream URLs change hands and community indexes occasionally contain errors. If a listing that shouldn’t be here slips through, that is an error, not a practice — report it and we will remove it.
